Frequently Asked Questions
How can I stay updated on what's going on at Rolle?
Check our website and watch for our monthly newsletter sent out at the beginning of each month with a calendar for the upcoming month on the back. Please be sure to check Class Dojo as well as Facebook.
What time should I drop off/pick up my child?
We provide supervision from 8:15 a.m. through 3:45 p.m. (2:15 p.m. on Monday).
What about transportation by bus?
Feel free to visit parent quick link on the district website where you may select the bus routes link, and input your information. Transportation by bus is a privilege and we expect children to obey all rules and remember that the bus driver is the teacher on the bus.
May my child ride a bike to school?
Children in grades four and five may ride bikes and must wear a helmet. Bike racks are located at the north end of campus. Children may not have skateboards, heelies, or scooters on campus.
What is your attendance policy?
By law, children enrolled in a public school must attend that school all day, every day. Please contact our office before 9:00 a.m. when you know your child will be absent and as soon as possible for unexpected absences. Parents/Guardians must sign their children in (if they arrive after 8:50 a.m.) and out. State law requires that parents/guardians provide documentation for any absence within one day of a child’s return to school.
What about changes in how my child will go home?
Parents should inform the school of any change in a child’s transportation arrangements before 2:30 p.m. (12:30 p.m. on Monday). It is not possible to ensure that messages will be received in classrooms after this time. We do our best to accommodate changes, however, parents should notify the school well in advance of any changes to a child’s arrangements for transportation home.
What about visitors?
Please call the office for our up-to-date visitor policies.
What meals does the cafeteria serve, and what is the cost?
We offer breakfast and lunch at no cost. Students are welcome to bring their own lunch. Menus are posted on Class Dojo and the district website each month.
When are parent conferences?
Conferences occur twice each year – fall and spring. Please check the Rolle handbook, which is posted in Quick Links on our Home page, and newsletter, which is posted on our News page, for dates. We encourage parents to make frequent contact with teachers by phone, email, planner, or in person.
Is there a lost and found?
Yes. We hold found items (mostly clothing) in the cafeteria ,and we may keep other items in the office or a classroom. We donate any unclaimed clothing to the Assistance League, which supports School Bell.
What supplies will my child need?
All supplies necessary for children to learn state standards are free. Check with your child’s teacher for a list of supplies that help with lessons. We have assistance for families.
What about cell phones?
Cell phones and smart watches should be turned off during school hours (placed in backpacks), and electronic devices, not required by the teacher, are prohibited.
Is there a nurse?
Yes, there is a nurse on campus. If you have any special health concerns or needs please stop by and see the nurse. She will be happy to assist you with making sure that your child is safe and healthy at school.
Is there a dress code?
Yuma School District One’s policy prohibits the wearing of clothing displaying objectionable or gang-related symbols. Bare midriffs, see-through blouses, halter tops, thin straps, backless or strapless tops, muscle or mesh-type shirts, half t-shirts, and clothing or tattoos with inscriptions or pictures that are vulgar or offensive to others are prohibited. Excessively baggy, loose fitting, or cut-off clothing is not allowed. Pants and shorts must fit at the waist, and all undergarments must be covered. Any fashion pants should not have any rips above the fingertips. Caps may be worn outdoors but may not be worn backwards or sideways. Items that may cause injury, such as spiked jewelry or oversize earrings, are prohibited. Students should not bring nail polish, make-up, hair spray or color, or cologne/perfume to school.
School personnel will determine whether clothing is appropriate. Children wearing inappropriate clothing at school may call home to have acceptable clothing brought to school or may borrow appropriate clothing from the health office. Children may not be allowed to return to class until the objectionable article has been replaced.
Does the school offer insurance?
Yes. You may purchase school insurance for a nominal fee – call the office for details. Arizona offers low-cost insurance for children that ACCHS does not cover (call 1-800-764-KIDS), and uninsured families may receive care for their children with a referral from a District nurse.
What snacks are allowed?
We encourage that Hot Cheetos and Takis are not brought to school (this prevents upset stomachs and things from getting orange). Any snacks brought for the class should be arranged through the teacher for drop off. Snacks should be individually wrapped.
